Bio
I started practicing yoga because I craved movement, but I couldn’t get myself to do it as any kind of rigid regimen. I was a terrible athlete. No really. Core strength, what? I guess my lucky Karma got my off the dead-end elliptical routine that I could never have sustained and into a relationship with my yoga mat. When my practice began, it was all about how my body looked. But gradually, I began to understand that yoga couldn’t really be looked at, but instead had to be felt, inside out. Continuing to show up on my yoga mat for practice, has taught me that the space I get to move around in my own skin lets me do the more important work: calming my mental energy and freeing my spirit. This is why I keep showing up.

Thoughts:

  • Favorite Yoga Teaching?
It is not how it looks, it is how it feels: therefore, trust your own body.

  • Why practice yoga?
I have so much more physical awareness of how I move now. More importantly, the awareness that I have of how I move mentally and spiritually through my life is profoundly more valuable. I’m so much nicer to myself and others.
  • Favorite Yoga pose?
    Breathing consciously

  • Best time to practice?
When your body craves it. (And sometimes when it resists).
  • Advice for a beginner?
Let your breath support you, move away from determination and toward willingness.
