Pranayama embraces a series of techniques that promote the healthy function of our 8 systems and organs. 8 Systems of the body:

8 Healthy Systems Lead to Internal Joy, Satisfaction and Ultimately, Happiness Modern medicine, even though so advanced, does not always recognize what is wrong even when symptoms are visible.  Often, disease has progressed 80% before treatment begins.  Some treatments call for chemicals that are taken, and are what our body should produce naturally, however too much or too little can lead to undesirable side effects.  Pranayama returns the organs to health, producing salts, minerals, and vitamins naturally to interact and produce what is optimal for each individuals own unique body.

Why Do It?

All disease develops from the inside.  Stress is the main cause for most disease.  Prolactin and Cortisone levels increase leading to hormone imbalance causing high blood pressure and high sugar levels, even without easting salt or sugar.  This leads to the following dis-ease in the body:

 

  • Degeneration of the pancreas causing diabetes
  • Degeneration of the nervous system causing hypertension
  • Degeneration of the stem cells in scalp causing loss of hair, etc.
  • All of which contributes to problems with the metabolism and/or the digestive system.

This informational meeting will cover:

  • How pranayama connects asana (physical posture practice)
  • Experience a 15-minute sample practice guided by Promila, VEERA’s Pranayama Specialist
  • Questions and answers in an informal environment over a cup of tea

PRANAYAMA INTENSIVE


Learn how to cultivate your own pranayama practice through method, timing, and commitment.  Connect with breath and community, create awareness, and strengthen your entire being.

This 4 hour and 15 minute intensive, Promila will lead and guide you through the various breathing exercises while teaching you how to link them together, the order in which to do them, and the specific technique that applies to each. Included in the workshop:

  • Brief 1-on-1 counsel
  • Group work and discussion
  • Take-home guide to help build your own home practice


*Please do not eat for at least 1.5 hours before this workshop and bring some light snacks such as fruits or veggies with you.

PRANAYAMA PLUNGE


You've learned the techniques and benefits of the various pranayama exercises . . . Now it is time to put it into action! This 11 day course will help you do just that. It's hard to turn a new practice into habit, however through this program, you will be guided, encouraged and supported on this journey. For 11 days, we'll meet nightly from 9pm to 10pm to do our practice together, answer questions or concerns and get your own personal practice off to a great start!

PRANAYAMA AND MEDITATION CLASS


Often in yoga classes you hear about 'Prana'. This word means much more than just breath; it is that which gives us life. In this 45 minute practice, learn to feel your Prana through Pranayama (breathing practice) & Meditation. This class will also relax you completely at the end of your day, preparing you for a good night's sleep soon after.

Promila has been exposed to pranayama all her life through her family lineage.  She always sensed and saw the benefits, however it wasn’t until 2003 when she found that she had an extreme case of arthritis and suffered from bouts of depression that she decided to give this ancient practice a try.  The benefits were unbelievable to her.  She gained tremendous strength mentally and physically.  Having experienced the power of this healing practice, Promila became determined to share her knowledge.  She studied the pranayama for several years before learning to teach.  Her teachers and inspirations include Morari Bapu, Baba Ramdeva, Swami Bawraji, and Sushil Muniji.

"I have taken yoga classes off and on over the years.  I had been reading more about Pranayama.  I was curious and wanted to know more.  I found the “Pranayama and Tea Party” at Veera Yoga.  I attended the workshop.  Afterwards I decided to explore the benefits of pranayama further, so I decided to sign up for some private sessions…

Early in the morning!  My first session was early on a cold, rainy Saturday morning.  My first instinct is to run to Peets for coffee!  No need.  I walked into the nice, warm, inviting yoga studio….only to have Promila open the back door!  “We need fresh air”.  Yikes!  And so it began.  Let go of any skepticism, be in the moment, accept, breathe.  We started with some stretching, jumping jacks (seriously - at this hour?? – yes, start jumping Girl!); she then took me through a series of breathing exercises – full breath/breath of fire/alternate nostril breathing, and more.  At the end of 2 hours (the time flew by), I didn’t need that coffee.  I felt fantastic, eager to learn more, and practice.  Promila is amazing, she is gentle yet keeps me on track, and her sense of humor is wonderful.  I highly recommend to anyone to meet Promila and take a session.  She has a wealth of knowledge to share.

My journey is just beginning, as I enter through another stage in life.  I feel that the knowledge of pranayama and yoga will assist me in aging with good health and grace.  Go ahead – I invite you to open your back door on a cold morning and start to breathe in life!"

"Just a week ago, Promila introduced me to Pranayama practice. Within a few days I earnestly started engaging the Pranayama breathing exercises twice a day at your suggestion. The first time I did the evening practice, right before bedtime, I went almost 40 minutes!  I already am experiencing wonderful results from this.  For the past several years, I have been unable to sleep through the night, often waking several times.
