Meet Aisa!
Around the world, children face the daily challenges of disease, malnutrition, and lack of education. The prospect of aiding even a small percentage of these children seems daunting, but Save the Children has developed sustainable community-based programs that support the young, and enables us to help as well. Through this organization the needs of basic education, school health and nutrition, childhood and adolescent development, and HIV/AIDS prevention, care, mitigation, and support are seen, heard, and responded to.
So how can we get involved? Save the Children's sponsorship program is an impactful and intentional opportunity to connect with a child in need. The donations sponsors make toward their child are combined with the gifts of other sponsors to support the programs implemented to make life, and the community, stronger and more fulfilled for all the eligible children in those regions of need. No matter the distance, you can make a difference, and with that in mind, VEERA Yoga has sponsored a child!

Meet Aisa! She lives in the Philippines, in a community called Lake Sebu. She is 11 years old, shy, and likes to sing every day. All of our donations go toward Aisa and her impact area: South Central Mindanao. How can you help? Our monthly community Kirtan (the last Friday of every month) will be accepting your donations for Aisa and her community.

Thanskgiving 2010
For Thanksgiving 2010, VEERA decided to feed the turkeys rather than eat the turkeys! Over the last eight weeks, our pre-opening classes have raised over $250 for the farm sanctuary! We used $180 of that to adopt 6 turkeys. Harley, Daphne, Jordan, Kima, Reese & Velma thank the VEERA community for helping to bring happiness to their lives.

Meet Edwin!
When a compassionate passerby first saw Edwin, he was all by himself in a small muddy pen, where he was lonely and uncomfortable. Worried for the young animal’s well-being, the kind woman approached the property owner, who admitted he was apprehensive about slaughtering Edwin (which had been his plan) and said he would relinquish him if a home could be found right away. Enamored by the small steer with doe eyes, his rescuer quickly reached out to the Farm Sanctuary to see if they could help, and they happily agreed. With the attentive care he receives at the California shelter in Orland, Edwin now has the happy life he was always meant to live – romping through the pastures with his new best friend Whitaker, with whom he spends every moment of every day.
Edwin’s sweet and outgoing personality captured our heart when we went to visit the sanctuary, so we adopted him! Look out for future trips planned to visit our lovable friend.
